Grumpy Joe is among Baguio's most well-loved restaurants — a homegrown favorite that grew from a small Baguio spot into a Northern Luzon mini-chain (with branches in La Union, Dagupan, and Pampanga), beloved for hearty American and Italian comfort food, especially the pizza and pasta. This Upper Session Road location — opened in December 2021 near SM City Baguio — is the bigger, refreshed flagship, a spacious tropical-yet-sophisticated space with wooden ceiling panels, warm lighting, white walls, and mirror accents. The headliner is the Hawaiian-style Grumpy Joe Pizza, loaded with toppings, alongside the cult-favorite 5-Cheese (and Aloha 5 Cheese) and other pies (spinach truffle, Fisherman's, vegetarian, Hawaiian). Pasta is the other star — the best-selling Spicy Seafood Pesto piled with squid, shrimp, and mussels, plus lasagna, baked ziti, carbonara, seafood marinara, and spaghetti with meatballs — backed by GJ fried chicken, flavored chicken wings (honey garlic, baked parmesan, jalapeño cheddar, Jamaican jerk), the Grumpy Joe Special burger, rice and combo meals, pork ribs, and sides like mojo fries and mozzarella sticks, with Greek, Caesar, garden, and cranberry salads and trendy desserts (Double Pistachio Knafeh, signature cheesecake, Dubai chewy cookie). Servings are large and made for sharing (a good-for-2 often feeds 3–4). Practical notes: it doesn't take reservations — you register your name and wait, and lines get long at lunch, dinner, and on weekends (the bigger space moves faster than the old branch). There's a 2-hour dine-in limit, parking is limited (many park at GSIS or SM and walk), and it's widely reported cash-only here — bring cash. The original Gibraltar (Leonard Wood Road) branch also operates separately.
