Founded by Alfredo Go, Good Taste keeps prices low partly because it runs its own hog, poultry and vegetable farms for fresh ingredients, and has served affordable home-cooked Filipino-Chinese (panciteria) fare for over 50 years — one of the city's busiest restaurants, usually full with a long queue, especially on weekends and holidays. This is the original location, on Rajah Matanda Street at the Magsaysay Avenue corner behind Baguio Center Mall, by the Dangwa terminal and public market — the smaller, older building (historically about two dining floors over a takeout and parking ground floor), which moves food between levels with a massive set of dumbwaiters and call-ringers. A queue-number system was introduced in 2023 to manage the crowds. The signature is the Garlic Buttered Chicken (₱170 half, ₱340 whole) and the Good Taste Rice (~₱190 — a plate loaded with rice, two kinds of pork, chicken, vegetable and a sunny-side-up egg). Other staples include crispy pata, pork sinigang, bulalo, beef broccoli, ginataang hito, pancit canton and guisado, miki-bihon, lumpiang shanghai, chopsuey and lechon chopsuey, shrimp with taosi, sweet and sour fish fillet, humba, bird's-nest and egg-drop soups, and a ₱1,000 family meal that feeds 6 to 10. There is a bakeshop for breads and pastries, desserts (blueberry cream cheese, buko pandan, halo-halo, cream puff, black forest, egg pie, carrot cake) and cheap drinks including a praised siphon-style brewed coffee. It is naturally ventilated (no A/C) with no Wi-Fi, and available on Grab Food since February 2024. For sheer value and volume it remains a Baguio rite of passage. (Note: the famous 6-floor building with the "Bellabot" robot servers is the separate Otek branch near Burnham, not this original.)
