Raquel's Cuisine by Forest House carries on the legacy of Forest House, a Baguio favorite for 19 years on a sharp curve along Loakan Road near Camp John Hay. After the family-run restaurant (owned by Ari Verzosa and his wife Raquel, for whom it's named) closed on June 30, 2020 during the pandemic, it reinvented itself — first as a delivery kitchen and al fresco "Reserve," then reopening in 2021 in a brand-new multi-storey home at Venus Garden in Suello Village, tucked into a high-altitude spot that overlooks the valley, greenery and Benguet's sunsets. The setting is the heart of it: a cozy, rustic log-cabin feel with a garden, foggy mountain and city-skyline views, gentle OPM music, and warm, attentive service — fine-dining quality in a homey package (course sets run around ₱1,500 a head). The kitchen leans on local highland produce and is known for its bagnet specials (the Bagnet Kare-Kare is the bestseller), fresh lumpia, Chicken Mushroom Quesadillas, the Forest House Clubhouse, generous footlong sandwiches, soups served in bread bowls, Hainanese chicken, pampano and salmon plates, baby back ribs, fresh salads, and desserts like ginataang halo-halo, Pisang Goreng and blueberry cheesecake. Reviews are strongly positive on food and service. The main trade-offs are a small dining space that can get loud, tricky parking, and a location well outside the city proper — but for many it's worth the trip. There's also a Bed & Breakfast on site, plus event and wedding hosting at Venus Garden.
