Wright Park is a well-loved free public park in the eastern part of Baguio, directly across from The Mansion. Formerly known as Pool of Pines, it is named after Luke E. Wright, the American Governor-General of the Philippines (1904 to 1906), and was developed as a recreational space during the colonial era under city planner Daniel Burnham. Its centerpiece is the Pool of Pines — a long, shallow, rectangular reflecting pool framed by stately pine trees, with a scenic promenade, benches, and shaded spots alongside. For decades it has been the go-to spot in Baguio for horseback riding: at the Wright Park Riding Circle below the pool, around 200 horses and ponies are available for hire, with local handlers (the pony boys) leading the reins — making it ideal for children and first-timers. Near the riding area you can dress up in colorful Cordilleran attire for photos, and vendors sell woven crafts, hats, and snacks like sweet corn. The park is free to enter — you only pay for optional activities like horseback riding (around ₱300 for a short ride) — and it pairs naturally with The Mansion across the road and the Botanical Garden nearby.
