The Philippine Military Academy is the premier military school of the Philippines, and its 373-hectare campus at Fort Gregorio del Pilar in Loakan is one of the proudest visits in Baguio. The academy traces its history to 1905, when the Officers School of the Philippine Constabulary opened in Intramuros, and it has been at home at Fort del Pilar since 1950 — the entire fort was declared a National Historical Landmark in 2019. Visitors are welcome in the mornings to roam the pine-lined grounds and take in the mountain views. The PMA Museum, relaunched in 2025 after a full renovation, walks through the history and traditions of the Cadet Corps, while Relics Point displays WWII tanks, guns, and armored vehicles, and the static aircraft display and working sundial round out the photo stops. The biggest draw is Borromeo Field, the sacred parade ground where the Cadet Corps traditionally performs a parade and review on Saturday mornings and a silent drill exhibition on Sunday mornings — schedules are posted at the gate and are not guaranteed every week, so check the official PMA Facebook page before making the trip. Entry is free — leave a valid ID with the guard at the main gate, wear closed shoes and appropriate attire, and note that private vehicles can go only as far as Melchor Hall. The campus closes to visitors on short notice for typhoons and command activities, and foreign visitors need advance clearance arranged about two weeks ahead.
