Mines View Park is one of the most famous attractions in Baguio, an overlook park perched on a ridge on the northeastern edge of the city. Its high-elevation observation deck looks out over the Amburayan Valley and surrounding mountains, and the name comes from the old mining region in the Itogon, Benguet range, where miners once extracted copper, silver, and gold; it was developed into an overlooking park during the American colonial period. Thousands come daily for the sunrise and sunset over the endless Cordillera range. It has grown into a complete experience beyond the view: rows of souvenir stalls selling handicrafts, knitted items, and plants; food stalls with grilled dried squid, steamed sweet corn, and strawberry or ube taho; traditional Cordillera or Igorot attire to rent for photos; colorful painted horses to ride; and friendly St. Bernard dogs (the famous one named Doglas) to pose with for about ₱20. It is free to enter, lively, and especially crowded on weekends and holidays — and a short walk from Good Shepherd Convent.
