Ili-Likha Artists Village (also called the Ili-Likha Artists Wateringhole) is an eco-art complex and food hub on Assumption Road near Session Road, opened in 2014 from the creative mind of film director and screenwriter Eric de Guia, also known as Kidlat Tahimik, who was named a National Artist in 2018. Rather than cut down the trees on the lot, it was built around them, using eco-friendly materials: columns made of tree trunks and branches, stairways covered in a mosaic of tiles, walls of recycled bottles, and furniture with unique woodcraft design, like a giant maze-like treehouse. Inside, it is part multi-dimensional gallery for Baguio artists, part food park: a warren of cafes, bars, and restaurants alongside art and novelty shops, plus a mini-cinema called Balanghay ni Iking that screens independent Filipino short films. If you have been to Oh My Gulay (also by Kidlat Tahimik, on Session Road), this is its bigger sibling. There is no entrance fee, it is pet-friendly, and the whole place rewards slow wandering.
