Good Shepherd Convent is arguably the most popular pasalubong destination in Baguio, run by the Good Shepherd Sisters on Gibraltar Road near Mines View Park. Established in 1952 through a mission started by Bishop William Brasseur, the convent ministered to youth from the Cordillera provinces, and its nuns began making jams — now the Mountain Maid brand — to finance the convent and the needs of the children. Its products are led by the legendary ube jam (ube halaya), widely called the best in the city, alongside strawberry jam, peanut brittle, lengua de gato, snowballs, and choco crinkles. The products are a bit pricier than market versions, but the quality is high and proceeds support the education of underprivileged Cordillera students. Expect queues, especially on weekends, and per-customer purchase limits on hot items like the ube jam (which sells out, so go early). Beyond shopping, the grounds have a cafe, clean restrooms, good parking, and the Shepherds Gallery viewing deck, whose panorama some visitors feel rivals nearby Mines View Park.
